Reps from Ulster University!

The Mid-Term is almost over and we wish to thank our parents for their support in making this period a success!

This Half-Term has been a busy one with a plethora of activities to whet your appetite. On Friday 4th May, we welcomed two visitors from the prestigious British Universities – Ulster and Queens, Belfast. Queens University is a member of the Russell Group of Universities i.e. the 24 member group of world class institutions in the UK. We are working to forge a strong and meaningful partnership with these Universities. We are delighted with this development as it will give our scholars the scope to access these world class institutions.

The Coffee Mornings were held on Friday 11th of May and Friday 18th of May. The theme was on “The Importance and Relevance of Social Media in Education”. Innovative Apps and Technologies such as Google Classroom and Kahoot were showcased. Parents were shown how these Apps could be used to expedite learning in the classroom. Although we were disappointed with the lack of turn out for this event, the overall feedback from parents that attended was very positive! We encourage all our parents to attend this event in the future as this is where they will learn more about what’s happening at OMC and get useful tips about upcoming programs and events. In view of this, from September we will give our parents ample notice to give themselves time to prepare for this event.

On Friday 18th May, our scholars presented a demo for their innovative Medical App #WebMedics24 at the National Steam Fair sponsored by #Google, #Microsoft and #Akada. This App will transform the way in which medical services are  accessed globally. Our scholars acquitted themselves very well in this competition setting the standard for excellence! In addition, we will like to congratulate our participating scholars for their outstanding performances at this year’s Nigeria Spelling Bee Competition.

We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, 23rd May Oxford Manor College was nominated to participate in the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. This is a world renowned programme that has been adopted all over the world and was set up by His Royal Highness, The Duke of Edinburgh to transform and equip young people to impact positively on their society. The four main components of the Award are skills, service, physical recreation and adventurous journey. This certificate is very important for your child’s CV in the future. This is in line with our vision to continually explore ways to challenge and engage our scholars to improve their performance

We will like to remind our parents that the DELF Junior Examinations [DELF A1] diploma in French is scheduled to hold on Tuesday 19th June. Preparation classes have been organised for this mid-term break. Please contact the school if you will  like your child to participate in this assessment.

We hope that scholars have completed their home learning activities. Kindly check to ensure that all learning activities are completed and submitted on time.

Finally, we are delighted to announce that our scholars presentation day for school awards will be coming up at the end of the Summer Term. This will precede our End of the Year Production – ‘Oliver Twist’ which will be held in December
